Radiation Therapy

Radiation therapy uses high-energy radiation to target and destroy cancer cells. It’s used in the early stages of cancer treatment or after it has started to spread. The goal of radiation therapy is to deliver precise doses of radiation to the tumor while minimizing damage to healthy surrounding tissues.

Radiation therapy for cancer treatment

At SunState Medical Specialists, we use advanced technology to deliver highly targeted radiation beams. The accuracy of these treatments, together with the expertise of our teams, helps our patients achieve the best possible outcomes. The type of radiation treatment your physician recommends will depend on your diagnosis, if the cancer has spread to other parts of your body, your general health, and personal preferences.

Our radiation oncologists utilize a variety of radiation therapy treatments to develop an effective treatment plan for your specific condition and unique needs. Select a radiation therapy treatment below to learn more:

Radiation therapy for benign conditions

In addition to treating cancer, our team also offers low-dose radiation therapy (LDRT) for certain non-cancerous conditions. This treatment is used to manage inflammation, pain, or abnormal tissue growth in conditions such as Dupuytren’s contracture, osteoarthritis, plantar fasciitis, and keloid scars.

While awareness of this treatment option is relatively low, LDRT has shown proven results in symptom relief and function improvement for patients.
